AUTHORIZED REPRODUCTIONS
VERSES UNAUTHORIZED REPRODUCTIONS This page is to
address the issue of unauthorized reproductions of Judson products and
authorized reproductions of Judson products. In the past there have been several
attempts to sell to the public and private sectors unauthorized, read "FAKE",
Judson products and items from the past. All of the fake Judson items that we
and W. Haddon Judson Jr., have inspected were of very poor quality. Some of the
fake items were never produced by Judson but were sold as either new, NOS, or
used items. An example: is the ball bearing and seal sets in the front and end plates of the
Judson Superchargers. The original ball bearings and seals were manufactured by
the New Departure Bearing division of General Motors Corporation, only. Anyone who
states that the item was factory refurbished and does not have the proper
bearing and seals is being deceitful. Individuals do replace the bearings
and seals with non OEM parts. This is fine. The supercharger is their's to
do with the item as they wish. But you should be aware of this feature. There have been other items on ebay, and other sites, various shirt, hat and jacket patches that were never produced by or for Judson. Exception: Judson did in the middle 1950s issue such items, but these items were for racing teams only, and were attached to various articles of clothing such as shirts, racing jackets and trousers. (Hats were not included. Anyone attempting to sell hats with a Judson logo or any other Judson patch are selling fake Judson items.) And are considered collectables and as such, are extremely rare. We doubt that any of the clothing items will come to the market place. Original OEM Judson Clothing if on the market would sell in the range of 100.00 $US to approximately 450.00 $US. Not for 7.00 $US or 8.00 $US. Again it would be rare the these items would come to the market place. We troll ebay (Ebay is very conscious of their reputation, and will do all that is necessary to protect their, Ebay's, reputation) and other sites to get these items off, out, of the market place. When we do find such items we contact the site owner and advise the site owner, ISP, of the issues regarding the fake items. We have found that most site owners and ISPs are more than willing to comply with our request(s). We have contacted the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, i.e. in certain situations, in the instances that the site(s) refused to comply. These situations were handled through various law enforcement agencies and our, Judson's, attorneys. There have been attempts in the past to reproduce the Judson VW gauge, Ghia scoop, manifolds and various other Judson parts. The reproductions would not have passed OEM Judson QC and QA tests. Another issue was that certain individuals and groups were causing the price of existing OEM, NOS, or used, Judson items to be priced beyond the range and reach of the end user. We find the practice to be unconscionable, unfair and an out right rip-off. We are not trying to stifle free enterprise. We enjoy a profit as much as anyone but this practice is a rip-off. And, we will not tolerate, nor allow this practice to continue. And, we will do all that is possible to stop said practices. To help stop the practice of unauthorized and fake Judson Items. Judson has worked with several reputable individuals and groups who have or are in the process of producing authorized Judson items. Please click on the Resources link to view the progress. The afore mentioned try to maintain the pricing within a reasonable price range and as practicable as possible. There are manufacturing costs that have to be recovered. This is a normal ROI. Judson does not set the pricing of the authorized reproductions. Judson is more concerned with the "quality", "look" and "feel" of the reproductions than monetary recovery. The individuals and groups that are involved with the reproductions set the pricing and are responsible for any monetary returns. FYI...With certain reproductions, the reproduction is actually a new Judson part. And, typically not a reproduction. The new Judson boost gauge is an example. John Moxon has reproduced the Judson Badge and Judson Decals . This is an excellent example of an authorized reproduction. The same holds true with Pascal Guerry and the Ghia Scoop. FYI...The Judson VW gauge was used on the 190 SL, MGB and Volvo units as well. If you would like to participate in the process of re-issuing Judson items please contact: JUDSON Procedure for producing Judson items. We have mentioned several internet and auction companies. Most internet and auction companies try to block stolen, counterfeit, fake items and any dubious items from their respective sites. There are individuals and groups who try to circumvent site security. When the various sites become aware of any wrong doing or dubious behavior the site(s) will remove the items as quickly as possible. None the less: PLEASE BE CAREFUL.
